Yesterday was a hard day for a lot of people who read this blog, and for a lot of people that I don't really even know. Last week, Thursday November 5 marked a terribly unforgettable day. The shooting at Fort Hood was devastating and sickening in itself. But the effects of it hitting so close to home will forever be a day that I will never forget. Aaron Nemelka was one of the 13 killed that day and I will never forget that Thursday night when Lindsey called to tell us the sad news. Although we did not know Aaron on an in-depth level, he was still family to us. We saw him every few months at family gatherings or birthday parties. He was a good kid and chose to serve his country. It is painful to think that he was killed in what was then known as one of the safest places on earth, Fort Hood.
Zachary and I attended the funeral for Aaron and it was truly touching to see SO many people who loved and cared for Aaron. It is without a doub that I have a testimony of the love that our Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ have for Aaron and his family. I know that the Lord will continue to be with them and comfort them through this sad and unforgettable journey.
Lindsey,
Zachary and I love you so much. We are so sorry from the bottom of our hearts that this had to happen. We are here for you and support you. Hang in there and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Aaron will never be forgotten.

Oh Jamie, I didn't you were related to him. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. You are always so strong and positive! Thank you for being a wonderful example!
Oh Jame. You are the bestest. Such a sweet post.
I'm not necessarily related to him, it's my brother-in-law's brother. A little complicated, I know, but ya...he was mostly related to my sis-in-law.
What a great man to choose to serve his country. I didn't even know him and feel so touched by his sacrifice. Our love and prayers go out to you guys as well as Lindsey and Jon and their family. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help. Love you!
Your such a sweetheart and a support to so many people! I love you sissy and can't wait to see you in a week!
